Cancer on the liver? |
I don't have a lot of info. My friend's mother has a couple of spots on her liver. The chemo is not shrinking them. The doctors have taken her off chemo and are going to put a clamp sectioning off the bad part in a few days. A month later, they are going to cut off that bad part of the liver. At least, I think that's the way it goes. Anyone had any experience or have any thoughts on this procedure? They told her it was the only option left. Any help would be greatly appreciated! My son had cancer nodules on the liver that were removed a few months ago. Much will depend on the size of the lesions and their location. A surgeon is able to cauterize when they slice parts of the liver . . the liver is the only organ in the body that can regenerate. Still surgery will depend on the size and location of the cancer. I am sorry to hear this, they are probly cutting the part out so it don't spread.A damaged liver does't heal.My father died of liver cancer 38 yrs ago.Cheer up they have so much more now to heal than every before. resecting (cutting out the bad part) is very successful. A liver transplant is also another option, but she will have to leave the country to get it. |
