My sister has stage4 rectum cancer and spread to liver.... had operation to re move rectum? |
now they will do chemo. and remove spots on liver.....i hope it works did anyone else have success with cancer on liver...treated with chemo... The purpose of the chemo is (if it succeeds) to eliminate any tiny metastasis which can not be seen on CT. Sometimes it eliminates also big metastasis. I, personally, have not been through what you're experiencing. However, I wish you and your sister, and your family, all the best . . . My father-in-law died of liver cancer. I lost a family member to leukimia and I have a friend with non Hogkins. They gave him three months. Anyway he started taking resveratol. The Japanese and Chinese have been using it for centuries. You can find a site with links at "old south winery". This is muscadine and suppose to be the most potent. most of it is made from the root of the knotweed plant. Do research and type in "Aggarwal resveratrol MD Anderson Cancer Center. Find the 58 page report. This report lists all mutations, pathways and different cancer that resveratrol will fix. my friend was given three months and that was over two and a half years ago. He also stopped chemo, but I don't suggest she do that. This stuff corrects the white cells so they recognize the cancer cells and even tells the cancer cells to apothsis. Look it up reveratrol He takes it every day. It is also good for circulation and as a natural cox 2 inhibitor. I am pretty sure it works on this type of cancer and what it will do is stop it so the body can heal. Go to the site and look at the testimonials. The main doctor is Dr. Aggarwal. But try and find the 58 page reprt, it i can figure out how to put it on here i will. Take care and I hope it helps shouldn't be only stage 3b if its just the liver and not other organs? I hope your sister will be alrite. Sorry to hear about your sister's situation. Unfortunately, for the most part, treatment when colorectal cancer has spread to the liver is primarily palliative, unless there are only a few spots which are amenable to surgical resection. Chemotherapy is usually able to achieve some type of response, and can usually prolong survival and improve symptoms. Although the median survival is usually around 2 years, remember that this means there are patients who live shorter and others who live much longer than this number. My mum had kidney cancer, that spread to her liver and lung. She past away last week, she was only diagnosed 4 months ago. My Mums cancer was very aggressive so hopefully your sister has better results. I am not a doctor but, i thought once it is stage 4, chemo is only used for palliative care. Stage 4 is not curable. If it has spread it means the cancer is in the blood or lymph nodes so can travel thru the body to any organ and could continue spreading. In my mums cases the treatment only made her SICKER and actual destroyed any quality of life she had left. It made her bed ridden and extremely ill, sicker than the cancer itself. I believe there is a low rate of survival from liver cancer, i doubt the chemo will remove the spots, it may just slow it down. Sorry if this upset you but i believe it to be the truth if in doubt speak to her oncologist. I wish you and your sister all the best. I asked my Oncologist about surviving with liver cancer and he said that absolutely, some people have survived cancer of the liver and been cured. |
