I had been diagnosed with liver disease about 4 years ago. In that meanwhile I developed a cyst?

on my ovary and had it removed. While I was opened I went ahead and had a tubal litigation done. It was only suppose to be a little scar under my belly button, well when he went in to remove the cyst and tie my tubes, the Dr. hit a main blood vessel artery and ended up cutting me all the way down to my pelvic area to get the bleeding stopped immediately. It was suppose to be a one day surgery and it turned into a four day stay in the hospital. He said that in his 35 yrs. of practice he's never had that happened to him. So now I'm bruised badly and real sore. Everyone has said I should sue the Dr. but he didn't do it on purpose or anything but I will have to look at it forever and one side of me it angers me and the other side says he's a good Dr. and mistakes happen. What advice does anyone have for me? I'm sure my MELD score for my liver disease has gone up due to loss of a little blood and also prescribed pain medication. Any help on what to do? Thanks.

Liver disease is a very nasty thing and there is NO guarantee as to what a Dr will find when he has to do a surgery.
Things that would normally be anticipated and things that would normally be planned in just an average surgery are tough enough but to add liver disease makes everything drastically different.
Your body is trying to overcome/cope with some of it's problems with your liver disease and in doing so has created some extra vessels or enlarged the vessels you have so for the Dr. to "accidentally" hit something that he would not normally have to worry about is just part of the whole set of problems that come with liver disease and to blame him for your current problems is not the place to put blame.
Anytime anyone goes under the knife there is always a risk but to go under the knife with your given set of circumstances your risks were higher than normal to begin with.
Your Dr did not make a mistake,he made a very brave and good judgement call and he/she needs to be commended not blamed.
You will overcome the brusising and soreness and you need to be greatful that you are alive to see and feel the healing. Your alternative could have been disasterous had you not had the Dr that you had.

I've heard stinging nettle tea from your health food store is supposed to be a good liver cleanser. I have a friend with hep c and he has maintained good health with this tea. Good luck and I'm sorry this happened to you.
