Liver Function Test?

I am in my early thirties and have drank beer pretty much since I was 21. Sometimes alot... sometimes not, but usually a few beers or glass of wine everyday. In the last year I returned to a job with computers and have gained 45+ pounds. Just took a physical and the doctor pointed out some elevated levels of AST (49) and ALT (99). In my research it seems that a ratio of 2:1 AST to ALT indicates alcoholic liver disease. My results are the other way around? does this indicate a fatty liver? Something else? I have cut out the booze and I am losing the weight. My doctor wants a follow up test in 3 months, my question is what does it mean to haver higher ALT levels in ratio to AST levels?

thanks,
-KPRD

About the ratio I found-
"While these ratios are suggestive of certain conditions, there is too much overlap between groups to rely on them exclusively when making a diagnosis. "

ALT and AST have normal upper limits. Your ALT looks high. Best will be to abstain from drinking and eat a helthy diet. It should come down to normal the next time you get it checked.
Good luck!
