Liver disease: Hepatisis C virus?

Is there any new treatment for Hepatisis C virus??? PLZ help me to fight this virus! What kind of food can eat or cannot eat during this virus's active stage?

I can give you one tip, don't drink any more alcohol. It's hard on your liver. Some people never develop a chronic life long infection from Hep C, but I don't know why?

the best answer to give you is visit with your gastroenterologist. There are several different treatments and some have a lot of side of effects, your doctor should sit with you and discover the treatment that is best suited for you. It might be more helpful to see an nutritionalst about kinds of food you should eat. I know at HyVee stores they have nutritionalists come in and the will meat with you and give you suggestions and they will walk you through the store and show you some food options or ideas. my friend had it.. he had to take some pretty serious drugs but he is fine now and you'd never know he was ever sick. It took a little while and you'll have to keep a good attitude but it will work out fine.. good luck!

In your additional details, did you mean HCV? HCV is different than HIV...

The newest treatment that has the best results is Pegylated Interferon and Ribivirin. Depending on which genotype you have, your treatment could be anywhere from 24 to 48 weeks long. I had to do the 48 week version.

There are a few drugs on the horzion, but I think with the recent swarm of drug recalls, those new drugs will take a while longer to be released by the FDA.

Like the other person said, no more alcohol. I felt better when I went vegatarian for a while. Now since I beat it, I am back eating the normal stuff.
