I have hep C, which has now created cirrhosis of the liver, not sure of the severity.? |
I have opted not to take the Interferon treatment, can someone give me some alternatives to healing the liver with supplements, health choices, or alternative medicines. My liver enzymes are elevated into the 100 range. I contracted this through a blood transfusion 20yrs ago, as well as my twin daughters who also have hep c, I am not a drinker, nor have I ever been. I have hep c also.....I am at 18 weeks into treatment. My enzymes have dropped 100,000 in this first part of treatment. My 2yr old also has it. Why don't you want treatment? It is very difficult...but there is light at the end of the tunnel. What are you afraid of? I am not a drinker either and probably got this from tattoo's in the 80's. E-mail me and I will help you through it. It does work!!!!! A friend of mine took it and has been hep c free for 5 yrs now. God Bless !!! I don't know about healthier alternatives to Interferon....I know that Interferon is very important in conquering this disease and getting healthier. My mothers best friend just died at 46 due to complications from Hep C and Cirrhosis of the liver. She didn't take her Interferon treatments as recommended and kept drinking though....The Cirrhosis, causes your liver to scar, when it scars around the veins and such, your body needs to find a new route for blood to pass so it reroutes it for itself....Often causing bleeding internally because the blood gets forced through those areas and the body just can't keep up, so it bleeds out. I also know that this can cause lack of blood flow to your brain, causing memory problems, thought process problems. I know my moms best friend dealt with this as well....her last few years she was almost demented....telling of stories that never happened, seeming out of it all the time and unable to remember anything correctly. Since she kept drinking the blood vessels had to keep rerouting and it eventually caused her esophagus to give...she had to have it "banded".....which caused much difficulty in eating. I know that I did not answer your question directly as I do not know of alternatives....but I just wanted to share my experience to express how very vital it is to take care of yourself and take the treatments you need no matter what. I just don't want to see anyone else die early when it could have possibly been prevented. Take care of yourself and I wish you the best of luck on getting your health taken care of :) I have been clear of the HCV virus for 6 years. Please reconsider trying treatment. Even if you don't clear the virus, interferon has been shown through research to have a histologic improvement on the liver. I know several people who have been transplanted; you don't want to go there if you don't have to. If you want to email me, please do. Best wishes to you. |
