I have cirrhosis of the liver, why? i dont drink, i med pain for back problems for 3 years? lots of pain meds can be damaging to your liver. especially ones with Acetaminophen like Percocet. Some good news is that the liver is the only organ that can heal itself to some degree. Hope you can get well! Your doctor should explain this to you. Cirrhosis can be caused by certain medicines, but I don't think most pain killers are high on the list. It can result from a case of hepatitis you may not have been aware of having contracted. There are also hereditary conditions such as Wilson's disease and alpha 1 antitrypsin deficiency. There are many other causes. |
