How do you get cirrhosis of the liver beside drinking? Chronic hepatitis B and C. Yes you can get it through all comments posted but also by having a blood transfusion years ago before it was being tested! As I myself am dealing with it,and there is sooo much pain/suffering!You can also be born with a bad liver... Report It You can have hepatitis and get cirrhosis of the liver Hepatitis, which is sexually transmittable (and also through shooting drugs and back alley tattoos!) Chronic Hepatits C is one of the fastest growing problems in the region where I live. It is transmitted mostly through blood borne pathogens. A lot of people where I live "snort" drugs and were found to have Hep C and/or cirrohsis. They discovered that people passing a straw around would sometimes scrape a cut in their nose and thus infect another user. Some people get cirrohsis from toxic meds or materials. Diabetes and other conditions can also damage the liver. There are many noted incidents of people who were non-drinkers to discover that they have cirrohsis. Hep C as others have said, but also if you took high doses of Acetaminophen for a prolonged time. |
