Liver Cancer? Does anyone know about it?How long do you live after you have pain?

My grandfather was just diagnosed, and it was because he was in pain. The doctors do not want him to eat meat anymore. Does anyone know about how long he has? The newsanchor found out he had liver and colon cancer and a week later he died. Please let me know. Thanks

Hepatocellular carcinoma (hepatoma) usually occurs in patients with cirrhosis and is common in areas where infection with hepatitis B and C viruses is prevalent. Symptoms and signs usually are nonspecific. Diagnosis is based on 伪鈥慺etoprotein (AFP) levels, imaging tests, and sometimes liver biopsy. Screening with periodic AFP measurement and ultrasound is sometimes recommended for high-risk patients. Prognosis is grim, but small localized tumors can sometimes be cured by surgical resection or liver transplantation.
Proteins normally help the body with tissue repair. They also prevent fatty buildup and damage to the liver cells. In people with severely damaged livers, these proteins are not properly processed. Waste products that are poisonous to the body may build up and affect the brain. In this case, protein may be restricted.
Please see the web pages for more details on Liver cancer and Diet-liver disease.

Cancer in those soft tissues is often quite serious, but I would imagine the time for each person differs.

I know a man who lived two months with it, and a man who lived two years. A lot depends on how agressive you treat it, and since he is an older man, they probably won't be so agressive. (The man who lived two years was only 41 at diagnosis, the other was 65).

My sympathies to your family. Please use this time to put away bitterness -if there is any- and unite in love for him.

alls i know is that your liver is more valuable than your heart bc you can live without your heart for awhile to get it transplanted but once your liver goes bad...not good

each case is diffrent. My friend has been living with liver cancer for 10 years. From what he says the pain never goes away. He has a full life. He works, has a family and get chemo when needed. It is diffrent for eveyone
