How much drinking / drugs would cause liver cancer for someone who has a family history?

I have a family history of liver cancer, but I am a heavy drinker and occasional drug user...and have been since I was 15. I'm 21 now...am I going to get liver cancer?

I had the same problems in my family when I was your age. 'HAD', meaning both my parents died of alcohol related problems. My Mom had an extremely enlarged liver, but died of nearly total organ failure. I can still remember the doctor who opened her up telling us that her insides were turned to a gelatin like state. They couldn't even sew her organ rupture together! She just kept bleeding until she died. Alcohol will do alot more then screw with your liver.

Probably. Drop the drugs and alchohol

My gawd, it way possible! Stop it.

Any at all increases your chances dramatically, but there is no amount that guarantees it. Also, conversely, much as I hate to say it, no amount of abstinence will guarantee you won't get it. Good luck and God Bless.

yep eventually. you wont think about about it over the next couple years and then in 10 years you will. and hopefully youll have a family by then to leave behind my dad did he died at 52 so keep it up

If you don't stop drinking Liver Cancer might not be your major problem. Death from alcohol poisoning or and overdose just might do it for you.

More than 2 drinks a day or one drug is too much.

PLEASE GET SOME HELP WITH YOUR ISSUE. I hope the best for you.

You very well could get liver cancer wether you drink and do drugs or you do not.
Live the very best life that you can and be proud of it. If you end up sick, you will have enjoyed the life you led. If you do not end up sick, you will enjoy it longer!!

Each individuals physiology is different. There are several risk factors for any type of cancer, family history is a big one; however, it is no guarantee that you will get liver cancer. There is also no guarantee that you wont. Drinking and drugs greatly increase the risk of liver cancer. There is also the chance that the damage has already been done and even if you stop now you could end up with cancer sometime down the road. Again there are no guarantees but if you are really concerned then stop drinking and doing drugs, your chances of getting cancer are very high, get regular physicals and testing to keep tabs on things.

Liver cancer is very rarely the primary source. It is always where it spread to. You can get cancer when you dont do that so enjoy life i say!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My mum pasted away last year after a 4 month battle she never smoke or drunk a day in her life
