My friend just found out she has liver cancer, does this mean she will die?

My friend is 37 and has been through so much. She was healthy before she was pregnant. Once she had the baby, she found out that she has a brain tumor, a tumor on her pituatary gland, thyroid cancer, and the latest being liver cancer. She's been strong until now because she has heard that liver cancer kills you. Is this true? Is there any hope that this can be treated? Has anyone ever heard of someone having so many health issues after having a baby? Any answers would be helpful.

the liver is the only organ in the human body that can re grow itself,so there is a procees,where they can scrape the tumors off the liver or remove parts of it ,it will regenerate itself.
this is not a guarantee,and not all doctors perfrom this delecate risky surgery. it may be a last resort if chemo or radiation doesnt show progress.
It also depends on what staging she was given,that her cancer is in.1-5

there is no cure for liver cancer, just pray.

I hate to say it but usually liver cancer means she will be gone soon.There is not much they can do to stop it.

Pregnancy releases growth hormones, and these growth hormones may have stimulated cancers she already had, but pregnancy doesn't cause cancer. This is one unlucky woman.

Most likely she had some form of cancer prior to the baby. There are several treatment options for your friend be sure that she talks with her doctors concerning her options. I would also recommend that she get a second opinion before she chooses a treatment option!

sorry to tell you but once it spreads like this it pretty well is not long before she will die.
Once it affects the brain it causes a great deal of difficulty on other parts of the body
look it up on line and you will see for yourself that she may have at most approximatly a 5% survival of 5 years..that is the best she can hope for
If she takes the treatments she will be really sick for along time and may not get any better either......do what you can to comfort her and be as strong as you can for her........that is all you can do

She has Cancer that has metastisized. Stage IV (4). Whats the Primary? Prob. Thyroid with Mets to the brain and liver. this is an ominous sign. Iam very sorry. Her long term survival is slim. She is young, so she will no doubt want to be aggressive, however I guess even with treatment, less than 1 year. The baby had nothing to do with it. She had this brewing before that. i'm sorry but i don't think it can be treated fully even if it can with all the other problems she has it might catch up with her and she's prob. not going to make it. This makes me sad it really does. Good luck and enjoy the time you have and God Bless you, her and both your familes.

Sorry to say liver cancer is not one someone can fight too well. I have a coworker with the same and she was given 6-8 months. After I had my son I got about a handful new health issues, nothing like this of course, but it changed my life drastically and how I live it. My doctor told me some people can be "allergic" to a pregnancy. Not like your normal allergies, but a pregnancy can really turn your body against you. I can atest to that. Pray for your friend that she can get treatment, but also pray she can find peace. With children i dunno how that is possible.

hmm...if she were to get a really agressive treatment, she might have some chance, but it looks like she already has metastasis (cancer spread from one place to another).

Tell her you love her, make her feel there's people she can rely on and pray for her. Please, i'm not trying to sound doomful or negative, but seems like it's a little too late to do much than try and pray.

Usually when cancer develops during pregnancy, it will spread faster, because of all the hormones in the body.
Finally, faith, hope and medicine together have been known to beat the odds many times, so help her find her strenght, try any treatment the docs prescribe, and pray.

has the doctor told your friend that having a baby has contributed to her health problems? there is hope for cancer patients. it all depends on how far the cancer has gotten, and what the treatment is. liver cancer is operable, and the liver can regenerate. chemo can help with other cancers, and there is treatment for a brain tumor (my oldest daughter has one and was treated with gamma ray therapy since her tumor is inoperable. the tumor is not growing at present. she is doing ok). if your friend can keep her spirits up and get good treatment, that will help. having friends and family to support her will help too. and her child will give her every reason to battle the cancer and live. keep being a good friend to her...your support will help a lot. good luck to your friend, i hope she recovers.

The prognosis isn't good, but one never knows. There are various treatment options; some may work.

There may be more hope than you think. What type of cancer is it? The liver is the only organ that can regrow to full size and function.
Be sweet to her. Do all you can to encourage her.
She may be around for a long time if she gets the proper treatment. Help her find the best liver surgeon available.
