How long does a Knee partial ligament injury which took place playing basketball take to heal? |
Basically the knee buckled after landing during a jump. Swelling took place after 6 hours after the event. No Fracture took place. No limping evident. Not hampered by any movement except plexing the knee to fullest. No instability in knee at all. One doctor says could be the fluid behind kneecap could have ruptured It's not really possible to comment on something over the internet, but I had a similar knee injury which took about 6 weeks to recover from, a torn ligament which became swollen and painful when fully extended. about 8 weeks if just draining not long My 11 year old son was riding a little scooter on a sidewalk and jumped to the next 6 inch drop and his knee buckled with the impact. He broke his kneecap and tore the ligament that holds the muscle to the bone. He had surgery. While he was healing, he slipped on the dewey grass and re-tore the ligaments. I'd say he spent 6 months healing from both and had many hours of physical therapy. It sounds like you have fluid on the knee if it swelled up. If it is still swollen, I'd go to a orthopedic doctor, let him check it. Even though you say it isn't broken, what you probably need is a percription for physical therapy. It will take some time to heal. And be sure to wear a leg brace, that the doctor can also give you. Do the recommended exercises. My son is now 16 and his leg /knee still gives him trouble. I don't know how long its been for you and whether or not they would do surgery and re-attach the ligaments or not. about 2-3 months i had something like but my swelling lasted a year and my ligaments shut-down from not excerising properly and i had to have surgery on it |
