What treatment should I do for my ligament and sprain ankle injury caused about a month back? |
5 weeks back I slipped a few steps while climbing down the stair. I immediately went to a bone clinic, Doctor took out 3 x rays and found that a hair line crack has occured in my foot bone. He was over confident and did not apply plaster and advise me to try to walk and assured me of no major damage. He gave me an anti inflamatory pain killer (Caflam 50 mg) and FASTUM GEL to apply 3 times a day and assured me that within 2 weeks it will be over. And also advise me to resume my daily routine i.e. going to work after 2/3 days. But 5 weeks has passed and pain persists, sometime severe, around and below the ankle. My apartment is on 4th floor (without elevator) and I have to attend to my work 5 days a week. During this period I visited the doctor 2/3 times again and he was confident that there is nothing serious and I should not worry and try to walk normally. But I know the pain and sometimes find hard to walk when the road surface is uneven. Kindly advise. tendons and ligaments take a long time to heal, the bone may be healed already. Lots of massage, ice when you get back home, heat too, you want to alternate between the two, 20 minutes each. You may want to try some exercises to strengthen the ankle. You know the warm ups dancers use, sliding your foot forward, back, sideways.....bouncing up and down on your tip toes etc.....it should help. If it still persists, try another doctor! Sorry, but the only advice I have for is to go see a doctor! I'm not a doctor so I'm sorry I can't help! see a physiotherapist. also seek a second opinion. I have a friend that is taking a new all natural, organic, functional food supplement for several months now. He had a stress fracture in his arm years ago that still caused weakness and pain. Since he started taking this product, the pain is gone and his strength has returned. It's not sold in stores. It is worth a try. My friend had an accident in the past and he has a similar problem.. he's a selfdeffence instructor.. he said that the good thing to do is to work out under the water " aqua exercises".. cause in this case you will strength ur muscells without putting any pressure on them and you will find yourself after a while .. there's no pain at all and u'll start practice your life normally again... and my advice is to have a healthy food like boiled whole wheat with the yellow bean.. it's very good for the nerves system and legaments..and having lots of cherries is good for bones and joints..drinking lots of water, milk, take vitamin d as a supplement.. Rest (it's your foot - you put weight on it all day long so do the best you can) The pain is an important sign - it means that there is still damage. |
