If I was to get specific - for full collagen turnover (composition of ligaments/tendons) and "true" healing it will take over a year. In most cases - people feel better before and assume they are healed. To heal soft tissue injuries around a "joint" you need to follow your MD's plan of care. It may take several weeks, and you may have to wear a knee brace for some time after. If you want to avoid surgery and further injuries in the future, listen and do what the "Doc" says, not anyone else.
