Ortho surgeons??? Talofibular ligament tear? Help please...? |
On 12-27 my Boyfriend rolled his ankle and sprained it pretty good playing basketball. It was about the size of a baseball and purple from his toes to mid fib. They said he had a high ankle sprain and to go to PT...which he has been doing since about 2 weeks after the injury. Finally he just had a MRI cause it is still very swollen and they said he has a complete tear of the Talofibular ligament and an osseus avulsion. His ortho is completely stupid and said he cant do the surgery and is sending him to Boston...Ive looked online and it says this is a grade 3 injury...what are his chances for avoiding surgery? He is very athletic so is surgery the best way for him to be able to still run and play basketball? Thanks in advance...sorry its so long :) I am having to have my ankle fused week after next. This is from years of mistreated sprains and refusing surgical correction. If your doc wants to send him to Boston, then by all means GO! He can recover fully and continue to play AND will still be able to play with his grand kids when he's older. |
