I have a torn ligament and I can workout.?

I rcently tore my ligament on my left ankle. For the past several weeks I have been wearing a "boot" and using crutches to get around. I'm a very active person. Before my injury I worked out 6 times a day sometimes twice a day. It's been very depressing for me and I been down and out since I haven' been able to workout. Any suggestions on what I can do right besides sit-ups and push up?

you can get a work out from walking on those crutches they give you upper body strength

Oh man i feel for ya bud. This summer I stretched my acl and mcl and bruised my bones and cartilage and was on crutches for 10 weeks, leg splint for 6 and out of hockey for 5 and a half months. So I know it's depressing. Try getting a stability ball, you can do loads of exercise with it. push ups, sit ups, you can even to a wack of lower body exercises as well (like putting your legs on it and proping yourself up to work the hamstrings and stuff). Even works out the inner thighs! So my suggestion is to get a stability ball that way even though its not cardio, its better then nothing.

But trust me, the muscle can take a while to come back (I lost all of mine from the calf to the butt in my leg). This way, you're still maintaining some muscle strength.

Hope this helped and good luck to you! (Hope you wont need surgery)

Good luck and try and cheer up, I know its hard
