Medial Collateral ligament tear of the knee? |
Husband hurt his knee, went to the doctor and was diagnosed with MCL Tear. The problem is that his disability insurance does not understand the disabling part of this injury. So I am asking if anyone knows the complete treatment and recovery of this injury. The doctor ordered a brace for the knee and took him off work for 5 weeks. When he returned to the doc's office, the doc restricted his working ability for anther 5 weeks because the knee has not healed, but work forced him back because there are no jobs for restrictions and his disability insurance refuses to pay even though he was ordered not to drive (he works 55 miles away from home) and they believe he should of been able to work no matter what. Because of all this, he may have to have surgery of that knee. As I asked, anyone know the complete and detailed method of how to heal this injury or a website that will state......that it is not to be used? My husband did sign a med release. the doctor's office called the ins co again yesterday because the rep told me that she did not have certain info and was still denying the claim, when the doc's office called yesterday, the rep told the doc's office "I have all the info I need from you". Without allowing the office to clarify anthing. The certain info was the crutches. It really depends on the severity of the tear. I tore mine in February. It was a minor tear and my knee is still healing. I'm almost 90% right now. A lot of ice and heat rotations. At this point I would start doing some non-impact exercises like bike riding to help strengthen the knee. Your Doctor should be the one providing the information to the insurance company, not a web site or other outside source. If this is not sufficient for the insurance company, then they need to asking the Doctor for further information and a detailed treatment plan. You husband needs to sign a release of information, and the insurance will be able to get all the answers they need. If not, get the papers from the Ins. Co and take them to the doctor to answer all the questions. I believe the employer is the one who messing with your husband's health. Good Luck! first i'd like to say best of luck to your husdand with healing. I injured my MCL just about four weeks ago and was told it was ok for me to work but to limit weight bearing which is impossible at my job.... |
