Injured my knee while playing futsal.I think i tore a ligament. Can i still be active without operating on knee

The injury is like the one Michael Owen got in the World Cup. Exactly the same. But, unlike Owen its the first time it happened to me.

It could be your ACL - anterior cruciate ligament. What would you be doing that would let you be active with only one leg? Hopscotch maybe. No, even that wouldn't work. Here is a website that will give you some good answers and a portion of the website section below: http://www.svoa.net/anterior.htm

TREATMENT
Once the anterior cruciate ligament tear has been confirmed, then the athlete has to make an important decision. Most individuals can function quite well without an anterior cruciate ligament in their knee, but only as long as they accept a modified lifestyle that avoids high velocity sports. These are the sports that require sudden starts, stops and turns on the knee such as football, soccer and tennis. Failure to adjust to this lifestyle, even with the use of a brace, frequently dooms the knee to progressive instability. With progressive instability many of these knees become so unstable that even walking up and down a hill can be a treacherous experience and inevitably arthritis will doom the knee. On the other hand, if the individual limits their sporting activities to sports such as swimming, biking, walking, careful jogging, weight lifting, and some of the softer sports such as golf, the knee can be expected to perform well and without gross instability.

If an athlete does not feel that they can modify their lifestyle and accept limiting their activities, the best alternative is to replace their torn anterior cruciate ligament with a new ligament since repair of the torn ligament is usually impossible. The goal of this operation is to replace the ligament with a piece of tissue as strong as the original tissue and place it in the exact location where the original ligament was attached. If these two criteria are not met then the new ligament may tear again or the knee may not regain full motion. The operative technique is both challenging and difficult, but when coupled with appropriate rehabilitation the result can be spectacular with return to normal sporting activity.

ask the health food store

im sure that arnica or comfrey ointment will help to heal your knee

You need an MRI of the knee to see how bad the tear of the meniscus is- if it is a tear or just a sprain---see your doc, get the mri and then you'll have the answer.
