Vastus lateralis injury?

i was playing basketball and when i was playing i didn't notice anything(i never notice injuries when i'm playing) and after i noticed that my vastus lateralis (outside quadricep) feels like bruised type of pain. there is no swelling or black and blue. it hurts more when i touch it or push it where it is hurt then it hurts a lot more. how do i treat this? what type of injury is this? is this to my muscle, ligament, tendon or bone?

there is no way you can diagnose this without more information.
preliminarly, you shouldnt be able to walk if you had a considerable injurie to either tendon, ligament or bone. maybe strained muscle, maybe inflamation.
Other than that, it is difficult to say.
