Overcoming injury? |
After having an injury such as torn ligaments around the ankle or a bad sprain in the ankle or wrist will the area be peramently weakend or do they eventually heal?could the area injured phycologically lead you to be more hesitant of damaging it again? It all depends on what you are doing, if it is a sport then you need to build up the strength slowly in the weakened area but no matter what you will recover fine if it is a sprain, a broken ankle that's another story, it will never be as good as it once was. And how good it will be depends on the type of break you had just exercise carefully, if your not sure go and see a phsyio for advice on your training. I have just had a dislocated foot & broken big toe- & broken femur on my right leg. also a badly torn knee on my left leg where half the knee was exposed allowing me to see the knee cap, and these are just some of my injuries from a head on car accident all because some one decided to overtake at the wrong time and hit me head on & that was in august last year trust me things could be worse. best of luck absolutely u may become more hesitant to do certain activites out of fear of reinjuring it again... also yes ur ligaments will be weaker and the joint may not be as strong as before the injury, this is because scar tissue forms over the ligament in order to heal it. Since scar tissuse isn't as flexible as ligament tissue it is more easily injuried Depends how severe the injury is. The tendons around the wrist and ankle are particularly weak and become damaged easily. They may be more prone to injury rather than being weakened. |
