When some is taken off life support and has no brain activity?

It usually doesn't take very long before death occurs but there is no guarantee of that.

Years ago, there was a case involving a girl by the name of Karen Ann Quinlan.
She was on life support for months but had been declared brain dead. Her parents fought it in the Supreme Court to get permission to remove the life support and they finally won. Once it was removed, Karen lived in a vegetative state for almost 10 years before she died.

not very long at all I'm sorry to say. With no brain activity nothing is working. The brain is the control center for the entire body. That is a very hard decision to make.
