Words of support? |
My husbands grandpa has just suffered a major stroke and is on life support, we are going to go down later this afternoon, yet i would like to send an email showing support. does anyone have any words that might help me show our support. It always feels horribly difficult in these situations, and one can agonise about the right words. The truth is that ANY words, as simple as possible, give the family the sense of support, of being thought about. So I would just say something like "We are so very sorry to hear about X's stroke, and we're on our way. We are thinking of you all - it must be such a shock. We know how much you all love X and how much it will mean to him, even if he seems not to know anything about it, that people are with him." Obviously I'm inventing this without knowing anything about the situation and you really need to put it in your own words, but it doesn't have to be anything complicated - the simple thought is the important bit.
