Lice????????????

My sister has lice and my mom told me to look online to see if there were any ways to kill it. She's already cleaned my sisters hair with "Rid" brand lice removal system and she still has them . If anyone has a better idea, now is the time!1

thanks

reapply the rid, it has medication in it that actually kills the lice and the eggs. Treat the house whatever your sister uses, combs, brushes, bed, sheets, even the chairs she may sit in. Lysol will kill the lice in these areas or you can use the rid and wipe things down. There are whole kits with the right stuff to kill them on people then in your home. Don't use home remedies on this you will end up with a huge infestation if its not treated properly and promptly

MAYO.. OR OLIVE OIL.. THEN PUT A BAG ON HER HEAD WHEN SHE SLEEPS..THEY WONT BE ABLE TO BREATH THAT WAY... THAT HAS ALWAYS HELPED OUR FAMILY.. BUT OF COURSE YOU HAVE TO WASH EVERYTHING.. STUFFED ANIMALS TOO!!!

My mom used tea tree oil shampoo, and mayo (of course). My lice went away and that was when I was nine years old.

How is it treated?
Lice and their eggs must be destroyed to get rid of an infestation. The most common treatment is a topical (applied to the skin or scalp) nonprescription or prescription cream, lotion, or shampoo to kill the lice and eggs. Sometimes a second dose is needed to make sure that all the eggs are dead. When two or more topical treatments don't work, your doctor may prescribe the pill called ivermectin.

Washing affected clothing and bedding in hot water can also help get rid of lice.

Some people have a lingering allergic reaction to lice bites that causes itching for 7 to 10 days after the lice and eggs have been destroyed. Corticosteroid creams or calamine lotion may be used to relieve the itching. In the case of severe itching, oral antihistamines may be used.

Frequent scratching can cause a skin infection. In the most severe cases of head lice, hair may fall out, and the skin may darken in the areas infested with lice.

When To Call a Doctor
If you suspect lice infestation (pediculosis), you can try a nonprescription medicine or visit your doctor to double-check your symptoms. Call a doctor if:

You have severe nighttime itching that does not go away after a few days.
You see live lice or new eggs (nits) after using the medicine (prescription or nonprescription).
You develop serious side effects after using a product to treat lice.
Signs of a skin infection develop. These may include:
Increased pain, swelling, heat, redness, or tenderness.
Red streaks extending from the affected area.
Continued discharge of pus.
Fever of 100 F or higher with no other obvious cause.
Many medicines that treat lice can be harmful if overused or used improperly. Follow the directions exactly as labeled. Never use a product more than twice (with at least 7 days between each use) without first consulting a doctor.

Watchful Waiting
Lice will not go away without proper treatment. Even if they don't bother you much, lice can be spread to other household members, sex partners, or other people you may have close personal contact with. If you think you have lice, try a nonprescription medicine or call a doctor.

don't use mayonnaise. get Tea tree oil. it will kill it. put about two tablespoons to make sure you get enough into a bit of shampoo mix it and put it on the child's hair and every one in the house. leave on ten minutes or longer if you can. take out all stuffed animals and wash EVERYTHING . treat every one in the house otherwise it wont do any good. also you can put it in the shampoo to keep the lice away., I went through the same thing the lice were immumed to the most commenly used products and I used tea tree oil it worked like magic. left the hair easier to comb and the eggs just fall off. do it. you will be so glad.
