Mayonnaise Lice Solution?

I am battling lice in my household. A friend told me she heard of using mayonnaise to kill the lice. She said to saturate the affected head and leave it on for about a half an hour and then wash it out. The mayo is supposed to suffocate lice and nymphs. I like this idea because this would be a non-toxic solution.
I want to know if anyone tried mayo to kill lice and how successful it was. If you tried it and it did work, what methods did you use that you think helped the process? If you tried it and it didn't work, what did you do after that that eventually killed the lice for good?
Don't bother answering if you don't know or you just want to say it's weird or disgusting to use mayo. Helpful help is what I need. Thanks!

Worked for us... We'd tried olive oil, tea tree oil, coconut shampoo...
anyway, we used 1/2mayo1/2vinegar (don't remember why) and left it on for a couple hours (during naptime) then rinsed, then combed, combed, combed, combed - sat in the tub for about an hour just combing... after 6weeks of battling, the mayo and combing finally did the trick. good luck!

IT WORKS !!! my daughter when in grade school had really long hair and we used this and it worked - I was so afraid after using prescription and over the counter stuff that we would have to cut her long beautiful hair - but the mayo trick worked !!!! Try it - I am just itching thinking about it :) Report It
