IF i dont see lice on my head cause i never get it, should i use a lice shampoo anyway? |
iDK IF I GOT LICE OR NOT. MY CONDITION IS DANDRUFF ON MY SCALP. ALL I SAW WAS DANDRUFF, BUT NO LICE.IM SCARED OF GETTING IT MAYBE...BUT IDK.MY DAD BOUGHT LICE SHAMPOO TO USE FOR HEAD LICE...SO MY MOM USED IT ON MY SISTERS HEAD TO REMOVE IT. Don't use it unless you need it. It will dry out your scalp and hair REALLY badly. Have someone check your hair for you, usually the back the of the head, they will be able to see little things moving around. But the air is getting dry so you could just be having REALLY dry scalp. Shaving your head is the only answer. Sorry. If the family has it, and are being treated you should do the same thing... everybody should be treated..... Lice shampoo is used to kill the bugs and the eggs. if you don't have them there is no point in using the shampoo. Shampoo for lice is medicated for lice. Dandruff shampoo is medicated for dandruff. Your best bet would be to use dandruff shampoo. Head and Shoulders is just about the best on the market. There's no need to use the stuff for lice unless that's what you have. I hope that your parents have removed all clothing, bedding, etc and washed & sprayed it all down! If you and your sister share hair brushes, sit/lay on the same bed or chair, share clothes, etc you have a good chance of getting it. Go ahead & use the shampoo it wont hurt you! If your sister has it, there's a good chance you could too. Basically your whole family should be treated...make sure you pick out the nits and use lice killer on your bedding/furniture too. Don't start using the lice shampoo like ordinary shampoo, but it won't hurt you to use it in this case. If your sister has them, then it isn't going to hurt to treat your head (and everyone in the family).....we are in Florida and lice are VERY VERY common here among young people. The thing our pharmacist told us about the myth of people being dirty -- the TRUTH is, lice have more trouble hanging onto dirty/oily hair -- it's easier for them to latch onto CLEAN hair.....so it has nothing to do with being dirtly. It is a pain in the butt to clear up -- you must wash, spray and clean EVERYTHING because they multiply and spread easily BUT they can go away. Both of my kids (as do most kids in our state) go through it. When lice are very tiny (beginning stages) it takes a magnefier with light to SEE them.....so you don't know. They could appear to be dandruff at first. my boyfriend thought he had lice so he washed his head with lice shampoo and put a little olive oil in his hair...better safe then sorry...if that doesn't work get some neutrogena or seabreeze from walmart If there is any chance you have lice, then use it, but you will have to treat the whole house--furniture, people and all. Great, now you've got me scratching. Once you use the shampoo, you have to remove all of the little eggs that attach themselves to the hairshaft about 1/4 inch from the scalp. You will need help to get rid of it. If you have been exposed to lice I would suggest going ahead and doing a treatment. 1 treatment will not dry out your hair plus it will provide safety for a few weeks, since lice CAN live a little while on bedding, clothing and carpet anything your sisters hair might have come in contact with, so remember to have your parents treat the WHOLE house with a lice spray. If you have animals in the home they can give the lice a place to live for a short period of time. I always treated my kids about every 2 mths while they were in school, whether or not they had them. My motto was always safe rather than sorry. Good Luck! a good indication is if you are scratching or not, if no scratching, then there is a good chance you don't have it, but if you are scratching on the head, then please get treated cause if you don't, those little fellas can multiply as quick as Chinese Arithmetic. If you can afford to go to the doctor, they can give you perscription strength shampoo that works FOR SURE... OK...lice are not a life-threatening thing. They are not dangerous...and the frequency seems to increase once school starts. |

you're gonna have to get new bedding , new brushes everything. my sister had them when we were younger and they never spread to anybody else. my mother finally had to take my sister to the doc... false ...I t is LICE.....a curse! lol, no really wash all linens wash everyone's hair (all the family). spray all the furniture where u sit ect..yes kids at school pass it on even through their clothes... my daughter got them and gave them to me because we shared a bed. simple cleaning isn't enough because they have claws. despite what people usually think of lice..they tend to feed on clean pe... yes but i would go ahead and retreat, ...Take them to the doctor...they can give you a prescription ...With lice treatments, you often have to treat twice, once for the lice and a second time 7 to 10 days later for the eggs when they hatch. Treat with Nix once more and you should be clean... Outdo... When you shave their head and wax it down like a sports car. Short of doing that, you have to continue to be careful and alert. Good luck! ... |
