Lice HELPPP?

my sister has lice and we cant get rid of them and we keep using every kind adn brand of lice and egg remover but i guess we keep missing some eggs or something. Anyway is there any tips on what else we could use since that stuff and be toxic to the brain. Also any other tips for get rid of them and keeping them away and keeping from spreading to us would be nice too.

Oh and how long can an egg live without being on a hair shaft

thanks
:)

you're gonna have to get new bedding , new brushes everything. my sister had them when we were younger and they never spread to anybody else. my mother finally had to take my sister to the doctor to get rid of them and that's when we found out she had a low immune system. finally got rid of them and put my sister on some vitamins and she never got them again. does your sister stay sicker than the rest of the family, if so, that may be why. Good luck

go to the doc and wash all sheets and spray the carpets and stuff .......

I've always heard of mayonaise in your hair and sleeping with a bag on it overnight. I've never had lice but I know they like clean hair and they can infest everything but there are plenty of home remidies. Hope this helps.

Are you disinfecting everything her head has come in contact with. Her hairbrush, the linen on her bed, couches and basically like i said everything her head could have come in contact with.

Double treat with an OTC lice shampoo, then take a fine toothed comb & dip in vinegar, then meticulously comb through her entire head of hair to remove all of the eggs.
Unfortunately it takes a long time. Wash all linens in hot water. Disinfect or get new hair brushes and combs. Treat carpets with salt, sprinkle on, leave for 24 hours, then vacuum, vacuum furniture.

At hair salons there is a spray that you spray in hair every day to keep lice away
Spray it in after you use live shampoo
Get rid of all the stuffed animals, and pillows, put them in bags and put them outside for a while.
Boil all brushes/combs in hot water
If she is still in school let the nurse know and they should probably check all people in the class with her, school students usually get it often from other children.
My boyfriends sister used to get them like...every week it seemed like, they cut her hair up past her shoulders and spray the spray in it, its worked for like 3 months now

Wash your sheets & towels in the hottest water possible. avoid using the same combs . Keep your combs and brushes in bleach water, there are products that the pharmacist can recommand to you. But really don't use the same combs & brushes.

You don't have to replace bedding or anything else drastic, this is a myth. Please, do NOT treat yourselves with a pesticide 'Just In Case.' People here really need to research their answers before they go around giving people 'advice,' as when you are uninformed and you advise people to do certain things, you could be putting them in harms way!

The lice preparations you buy from a chemist are pesticides and every pesticide has the potential to do serious harm, even if used 100% as directed. Google 'Head Lice Jesse's Story' for more.

If you haven't got an infestation, don't go treating yourself with pesticide treatments. Not only is this an overwhelmingly drastic measure, chemical head lice treatments are not meant to work in this way.

Here are 5 different head lice prevention methods with Tea Tree Oil:

1. Mix 10 drops of Tea Tree oil in with your shampoo. This makes you totally invisible to the lice as they no longer regard you as human. As transferring to anything other than a human spells certain death, they are not even willing to take the chance. You can also buy Tea Tree shampoo already made but this is more expensive as tea tree oil can be picked up from your local health food store for around $6.

2. Put your hair up in a tight plait. Lice find it harder to get hold of hair that is well up and out of the way. Mist your hair with water in spray bottle and 10 drops of Tea Tree added. This will help to further repel them.

3. It is possible to repel them by simulating dirty hair as this makes it hard for the lice to move around or attach their eggs. Gel is one way to simulate a dirty environment without the hair actually being dirty. Mix in a few drops of Tea Tree oil. This will be a double whammy as the lice will not think you are human as well as it being impossible for them to move around or attach their eggs.

4. Exactly the same goes for girls. Hair spray also simulates a dirty environment very well, making it hard for the lice to get around. Get the kind that comes in a pump bottle that you can add a few drops of Tea Tree to.

5. You can also get leave in conditioner which will do the same trick again. Add 10 drops of Tea Tree Oil and spray this over a tight plait every day.

Adults and nymphs are also only able to survive for 2-3 days off the host in optimal conditions.

Under normal circumstances however this is more likely to be measured in hours rather than days as the adult louse is highly susceptible to dehydration and will quickly starve.

Eggs can survive away from the host for up to 7 days but will not hatch without the warmth of a human host.

Wash pillowcases and sheets as a precaution, but a nit that falls out attached to a hair needs the warmth of the scalp to hatch. Without this, it will simply die. The chances of it finding its way back to that scalp are minimal.

With this in mind it is fairly obvious that compulsive cleaning is totally unnecessary.

It is more important to make sure there is no live lice on the head than there is on the floor or furnishings.

If a lice treatment does not work once it is not going to work twice, in fact the lice that live will breed into a whole new batch that are resistant to that chemical.

Read these articles and try to find a natural remedy containing Neem oil as this renders the lice unable to breed therefore making it impossible for them to build up a resistance.

Good luck, we've been there.
