Lice problem? I need help NOW!!? |
I've had lice for awhile now, I'm currently taking Nix. I've tried RID1 and Lice freeee, but they didn't really work. Have no clue how I even got it, but it's driving me absolutly insane! I got a haircut a few days ago and it helped a little, but I know they're still there. Anyone with the experience PLEASE HELP ME!!!! I know your frustration! Both of my daughters had lice 4x back to back last fall. I used every form of lice shampoor available on the shelves and nothing worked! Both of my dauthers have long thick hair, I spent 3-4 hours on each one, picking nits and combing them out. Needless to say, they returned! The lice will not go away unless you get all of the little tiny eggs out with a fine toothed comb...Also, don't forget to wash and sanatize ALL bedding, backs of the furnature, hair ties...etc...Steam cleaning helps a lot. well i would go with a kerosene rub or lysol rub,, that is what they use when you go into jail,, they have you rub it all over yourself before you go into the general population,, also as a last resort i would shave your head,, lice are attracted to greasy, unkempt hair,, so its up to you,, good luck OK the shampoo wont work if all you do is use that. You have to wash your hair and let the shampoo set on it according to the directions on the box. While the shampoo is setting on your hair you need to put all stuffed animals either in airtight plastic bags (where they will have to stay for two weeks) or if you have a small amount you can wash them in hot water in your washing machine. All your bedding will have to be washed in hot water as well. The have a furniture spray (rid and Nix boith make one) Use this to spray on all couches/chairs and if you have pets that sleep with you as a precaution (lice can and occasionally will live on pets) wash them with flea shampoo, spray your carpet with furniture spray then vaccuum and empty your vaccuum cleaner bag. You need to have someone comb all the nits out of your hair after shampooing and then wash again in 7-10 days as a precaution even if you think your rif of them. I know its a lot of work but its the only way to be completely rid of them. GOOD LUCK! Those treatments should have worked if you are doing what you need to do with your bedding, clothing etc. EVERY surface in your house that you come in contact with must be vacuumed thoroughly and sprayed with the appropriate lice insecticide spray. All pillows, stuffed animals, or other cloth items where they can be hiding must be sealed in large plastic trash bags and left there for 7-10 days. All clothing you have worn or have come in contact with must be washed or dry cleaned. Make sure you have washed all bedding in the hottest water you can and make sure to vacuum your mattress as well. If you have blankets that cannot be washed - put them in a hot dryer for 30 minutes. It is really important that you use a very fine toothed comb to remove all eggs from your hair. Chances are - when you are using the lice shampoo - you are getting rid of the adults but leaving the eggs or nits behind to hatch. You can also use Sargent's flea shampoo for dogs. It contains the same main ingredient ( pyrethrins) that is in regular lice shampoo and costs a fraction of what you would pay otherwise. I have taught elementary school for 32 years and have LOTS of experience dealing with these pests. Don't panic, you can get rid of them. You probably picked them up at a movie theater or something like that. Lice LOVE clean hair. Now, in order to get rid of them you have to be extremely persistent. Get a Nix treatment. Put the Nix on your hair and leave it for 10 minutes. Your Nix treatment will come with a lice comb. This is the important part. You MUST get the nits(lice eggs) out of your hair, as none of the treatments kills the eggs. The lice attach their eggs to the hair shaft with a special glue that is very hard to get lose. Get some vinegar. Trouble with head lice is that they have become resistant to most of the nice modern preparations. keep away from me! Okay, first off lice is NOT attracted to greasy hair. I am a stickler about being clean and I've had lice before. Secondly, you need to clean, disinfect, bag up everything lice can live on: sheets, stuffed animals, everything. As for the treatment, I'd ask a doctor... maybe the treatment needs to be more concentrated. The following website may help. The GUARANTEED way to rid yourself of lice is to use any old conditioner combed through with the "Nitty Gritty Nit Free Comb". If you are able to get free prescriptions these are available on prescription (listed under appliances) or are available for purchase at around 拢11. They are amazing & really do the trick. I've never used lotions or potions of any kind on my daughter but this really did rid the beasties of nits, eggs & lice. It you google this, you'll find the site which gives you all the facts. |
