How to kill head lice and can you get body lice?

About a month ago I noticed I was getting these little pimply like bumps on my fore arms, real little it just is not common with me so I got a little paranoid. My fiance told me not to worry it was nothing which may be the case but a little while after I was really itchy and realized my daughter and I had head lice. I figured I got it from work considering I work at a hospital. So we used the special shampoo I totally disinfected the house(washing, vacuuming, spraying the lice spray) it was awful. Then I noticed my daughter got it again. I reported it to the school they said they checked and she was fine. When she got it the second time I checked her almost every day and we even did the mayo and suffocating trick that I read somewhere(put mayo in the hair and use plastic wrap or a plastic bag for atleast 2 hrs to suffocate. Did this and saw no bugs this was Wed now today Mon I found 4 bugs again. I am also worried about body lice please help I am losing my mind!

Hello Dawnie,

Here is a quote from a web page at the Mayo Clinic:

Treatment
If nonprescription lotion or shampoo doesn't kill the lice, your doctor can prescribe a stronger shampoo or lotion. Malathion (Ovide) has been re-approved as a prescription drug for treating head lice. Malathion is flammable, so keep it away from heat sources such as hair dryers, electric curlers and cigarettes. If you're pregnant or breast-feeding, talk to your doctor before using this product.

Another type of prescription treatment for lice contains the medication lindane (Kwell). Your doctor may not recommend using lindane for people who weigh less than 110 pounds, have used it in the past few months or for women who are breast-feeding. Side effects may include skin irritation and seizures.

Use these medications as directed; applying too much can cause red, irritated skin.

Whether you use over-the-counter or prescription shampoo to kill lice, much of the treatment involves self-care steps you can take at home to make sure all the nits are removed and that all clothing, bedding, personal items and furniture are decontaminated. In most cases, killing lice on your body isn't difficult. The challenge is making sure you get rid of all the nits and avoiding contact with other lice at home or school.

Not sure which shampoo you were using, but here is some information about Lindane shampoo at:

Hoping something here works...if not, feel free to email
me at jmflahiff@yahoo.com...I will do my best,

go just try something chemical

You talk about the lice but not the nits. If you are not going through her hair every single day with a nit comb, you may be leaving eggs in there and they will hatch, then lay more eggs, then hatch, and so on. The drug store should also carry a gel that helps the nit comb get through the hair after using the shampoo.
