Chronic head lice??? Please help!? |
I know that head lice is common among young children - especially those in school or daycares. But my 5 year old daughter has had lice about a dozen times in the last 7 months or so!! I don't think this is normal!! I treat her everytime, use the spray, wash the linens, etc....but she keeps getting it! Is it possible there is an infestation in my home??? I didnt think lice could live off of the body for long...I don't know if any of the other kids in her class are getting it...I don't think we're allowed to ask. Can someone offer some advice??? Thank you so much in advance! My poor kiddo keeps getting these nasty things! When you wash the linens, do you put the pillows in the freezer or in the dryer? EVERYTHING needs the treatment, teddy bears need to go in tied up garbage bags for 2 weeks, anything that can't be heated in the dryer or frozen in a freezer needs to be isolated for 2 weeks. Vacuum all the furniture, cushions (both sides) back of the couch, EVERYWHERE. shave your head then use clorox one simple little word even u can understand. SHOWER. We are going through the exact same thing with my daughter. The only treatment that really did any good was called lice free. you leave it on for at least an hour then wash it out and comb for nits. It is supposed to kill the nits as well as live lice. It seemed to work pretty good and get rid of the lice. Hope this helps I know how much trouble they can be. It is very possible that she is getting it repeatedly from school. You should call her principal and ask to have a head lice check at the school. I really doubt its an infestation at your house. However, you should check your own head, as well as any other siblings or people who are in and out of your house frequently. make sure you get all the nits out and frequently check her hair and talk to the parents of her friends to make sure she is not getting reinfested through her friends Rest assure that all those critters in your child's class have it. Make a point to speak to a school official immediately. Oh wow. I hear you load and clear. A few years ago I had all four of my kids with lice. Oh My....anyway, I have tried everything and have gone to the drug store and it has been expensive and hell. Once you get her free of lice ex: treatments, use hair spray in her hair every day, this prevents them from adhearing to her clean hair.. Also use the spray on her carpets, stuffed animals, etc. We bought some "Bombs" that we bought at the pharmacy and bombed her room. ( they are like flea bombs, a can of spray you press the button and it stays on)We also moved her out of the room for several days to make sure all were dead after doing all of the above. Oh, we put her stuffies in a garbage bag and sprayed into the bag and sealed it. But I can't emphasize the hair spray enough |
