Does mayo help to exterminate head lice?

I have head lice. Yes, I know it's gross but I'm not asking you if you think it is or not so don't answer with something like "ewww headlice" or "You wouldn't have that if you weren't so dirty!". Honestly, lice dont like dirty people so thats NOT why I have it. Lice like clean scalps so that they can feed. I know that. I have a very mild case, barely anything. I have dont Rid and Nix three bottles each two treatments per a bottle. It's not working for me. I believe the lice are immune to the chemicals. So, just out of curiousity, would mayo cure my very mild case of head lice?

I'm not an idiot. I change my sheets and bedding every three days. I also spray it with the spray that comes with the shampoo. I spend 1-2 hours taking the eggs, nits, and any bugs (i've only got two out one was ALIVE) with a metal tooth comb. I soak anything hair related in achohol for a whole day. I wash all my clothes and never wear them twice.

I have the perfect home remedy for you. I will cut and paste it and have it posted shortly!
took awhile to find it. if you have questions email me.

I HAVE A INEXPENSIVE FULL PROOF WAY OF MAKING THEM "GO AWAY" please read!
I was in the drug store buying expensive RID for my daughter about 12 years ago, and the lady in front of me said honey you don't need to spend all that money, there is an easy way. REALLY this worked!>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Rubbing alcohol and vinegar! Best kept secret!<<<<<<<<<<<
Put the alcohol on the hair in small strands and then the vinegar everywhere, do not wash it out. It is important to repeat this process everyday for a few days and then twice a week for a couple of weeks to be sure you get them all. Here is what it does. !. the vinegar rubberizes the nits (the eggs that stick to the hair thread) and they will NEVER hatch! yeah! then the rubbing alcohol kills all the living ones. You just keep pulling them out of the hairs --they die and rubberize. wash bedding in HOT water and keep repeating. my daughter had hair to her waist and I thought I'd have to shave her head, this worked and saved us! She shared a brush at school with other students, it can't be helped.Please remember it will be a smelly process but not expensive and you can see it work before your eyes! good luck! I saw them die before my eyes!

She had a colony in her scalp and came down to her neck to feed (gross) the doctor didn't even Dx it, he thought she had a rash from long hair and gave us cream topical for it! For real a doctor didn't see it!

>Vineger rubberizes and alcohol kills (rubbing not drinking).
Good luck!

EDIT>>
Lice can be very difficult to rid from someone's head. There are hundreds of remedies for lice removal and treatment, but only a few are legitimate. Vinegar really will treat head lice when used properly. Here are the steps needed to successfully treat head lice with vinegar.
Difficulty: Moderate
Things You鈥檒l Need:
* Distilled vinegar
* Squibb mineral oil
* Shower cap
* Nit comb
Step 1:
Warm the vinegar and put it all over the head and scalp. Place a shower cap over the hair for 30 minutes so the vinegar cannot escape and the fumes are still working on the lice.
Step 2:
Dip a nit comb into the vinegar and comb it through the hair. You can find a nit comb at your local drug store. This will help destroy the glue that the nits use to stay attached to the hair and the scalp. Brush through the hair many times. You can dip the comb back into the vinegar as many times as you see fit.
Step 3:
Mix the vinegar with mineral oil if the nits do not come off easily. You can find mineral oil at your local drug store. Saturate the head with this mixture and the nits should come off easily and pain free. A shower cap can be placed on the head after this process as well.
Step 4:
Repeat this saturation and washing of the hair with vinegar on a nightly basis until the lice are completely gone. It is not a bad idea to continue washing the hair in this manner 3-5 days after the lice are gone. This is done to ensure the lice do not come back. The combing with the nit comb can be continued for as long as you are washing the hair in this manner.

IT WORKED FOR MY DAUGHTER 12 years ago, and old remedy, she was in the 7th grade and the worse case I've ever seen!

GOOD LUCK! Report It

Nope but nix and rid work!!

Are you joking...
No..

I didnt know about the mayo fad.

Darren is correct, but you don't get rid of them just by the shampoo alone...you also need to change and clean your bedsheets and pillowcases, wash all of your dirty clothes, spray your bed and bedding (I think Rid comes with a spray can of Pyrethrin for this), clothes hampers, barrettes, hair clips, curlers, scrunchys, etc...THEN go take a shower and use the shampoo.

I have heard vegetable oil works so put oil on your head and massage it through, wear a shower cap for about 4 hours, I know its a long time, or go to bed with the cap on. Also they can survive for 4 hours under water, gross I know.. but they can so make sure you wear it for longer than that. You can also buy a nit comb, it is brilliant, it gets eggs too. My daughter had lice and I used it and they have gone.

Good luck getting rid of them!

When my daughter was young and had them we used olive oil and she left it on overnight and then washed her hair the next day. Like another person said you have to wash your sheets, pillows and pillowcases. You also have to get the nits (eggs) off your hair. You need someone to help you do this. Using Rid and Nix will also help, but you have to get rid of the nits. Good luck.

dont listen to these ppl! Im just 16 but when I was younger... I had lice 2 times... And the school nurse suggested mayonaise! AND IT WORKED! nix never worked for us... our hair was just way to much I guess... But Mayonaise worked... It was absoultely the most miserable experience ever... and it wont work with the miracle whip mumbo jumbo you have to have old fashionde mayo... And you tie like a walmart bag around your head.. Like shrink wrap lol! but it works... and its gross at the same time... and you stink like mayo a while... but after the stintch is gone... your hair is so conditioned and shinny! good luck hope this helps IT DID ME!

Perhaps my answer is different because I am responding from Canada. Here Tea Tree oil is used to treat head lice. Only 2 treatments are required.

I believe it is imported from Australia. I don't think it is cheap not as expensive as Rid.

Ignore the knee jerk reactions, that's all they are.

Well it is not anyfun having lice, is it??? The first thing you need to do is change your sheets, have your carpet cleaned, get any stuffed animals that you could have inffected and place them in a bag in a room with VERY warm temperatures. The heat will kill the bugs on your items. The second thing you need to do is go to wal-mart or target and get a jar of mayonnaise or a lice-killing system. Thirdly, take a shower and use tea-tree oil in you hair which is VERY harsh on those little bugs. And last but not least, invest in a shower cap that can keep the bugs contained. If you live in a warm climate right now, put on a shower cap and go outside and sit- the heat will help get rid of those lice. Good Luck!!

YES I HAVE HEARD OF THE MAYO BUT I HARDLY BELIEVE IT WOULD WORK .I WOULD GO WITH THE RUBBING ALCOHOL AND VINEGAR.I HAVE HEARD OF IT BEFORE AND DOES WORK.
