Leukemia???? |
My friend has leukemia, and she was walking and fainted. They did tests and stuff and found out that her red blood cell count was really low and she isn't doing well. I want to know based on this what her chances of making it are, and if this could be the end for her. Children aged 4-7 have a better chance of surviving leukemia than young children and tweens. The survival rate is about 80-85%. Girls will get chemo for about 2 years and boys have to get it for about 3 years. hving leukemia doesnt mean its end 4 every thing,,with proper treatment she can hv normal life.. sorry to hear that. but having leukemia can mean you can have a normal life. with normal treatments she can actually live a good life. as long as they caught it in time she will be fine! I'm sure she will have to go through chemo and radiation, but with the Lord by her side she will recover just fine. Best of luck to you and your friend! Some of what you ask depends on how much you and all her friends stay close to her. There was a medical study done where rabbits were given a cancer and all of them got sicker and sicker but one rabbit. Later they found out the student in charge of taking care of the rabbit was also taking it out of its cage, petting it and treating it with kindness that the other rabbits were not getting. Just let your friend know how much you care and are there for her as much as possible, help her believe everything is going to be okay and it will be okay. It doesn't mean the end for your friend. There are so many treatments now for people with leukemia. She will need a good friend during this time and it sounds like you are going to be able to help her because I am sure that she is scared. It depends on what type of leukaemia she has and how well she responds to chemotherapy. Every person is different and how she is now does not determine her outcome. Try to be optimistic for her as through her treatment she may become withdrawn and down in herself and if she has someone just being there for her can help her in more ways than what the nurses and doctors are doing. It is one of the most horrid things to happen to someone and the best thing for her is a friend like you just spending time with her and giving her lots of love and attention. |
