I was recently diagnoised with a rare form of Leukemia i need advice on how to tell my familly that im dying?

I am a seventeen year old girl and I was recently diagnoised with a rare form of Leukemia. I was medically emancipated from my parents four years ago and I have been making my own decisions about my health for about a year now. About four weeks ago I was diagnosed with Leukemia, at the point the cancer had alread spread to my lymph nodes, spleen, bone marrow, spinal fluid. I was informed by my doctors that at this stage the only thing they can do for me is to make my life less physically painful. Because of my Medical Emancipation from my parents and the fact that I go to boarding school, my parents are completely unaware of the diagnoise. my question is how to do I go about telling my parents and the rest of my family that I am dying? my parents have already lost my twin brother to heart failure and im not sure how to present the fact that it is likely that the next few months may very well be my last.

What is your rare type? I also think you dont entirely understand your cancer because you mentioned that it spread to the bone marrow... if its leukemia that is where it started, not where it spread to.
Have you sought a second opinion yet? You should absolutly do so before you give up.
I know a little about what may be going on, I am a leukemia patient as well. Which is why I ask your specific type and subtype.
I am not terminal but have had to discuss end of life issues and the possibility of refusing treatment and palliative care with my docs family and poa.
Feel free to contact me and I will talk to you on a personal level, there is a link on my profile.

Oh my goodness...Sweetheart. Honey, you do everything you can! You fight till the end and never give up. There is still a chance you can beat this thing! Omg, I feel so bad for you.
;(

Just like sit your family down, and say I have something very serious to talk about. [Insert some words]. And say like, but I am not giving up, I am still fighting and I will never stop till the bitter end.

Again, my deepest condolences. I will pray for you every day. Take care, sweetie. <3

call them to tell them you need to talk to them. Tell them evrything ang gthey will support you..

good luck

Oh man, this is so sad.... Do tell your family asap... What you need is support. Wish you all the best.

I agree, never give up, The Lord has a plan for you,
I will also give my prayers to you.
I recommend telling your parents face to face, not on the phone.

I sure hope you live alot long then a couple of months. The only thing that you can do for your parents is to sit them down and tell them the truth. I know it will be hard for you to do this, but there is no other way. As a parent it is always hard to watch your child die, we are not surpose to be here when that happens My children are to let me go first My dear I wish you the best and I can tell from your letter that you are a very strong person and you will get thru this. With a lot of love for you and you will be in my prays

You just need to tell them that you have to talk to them about something. Trust me, it will just come. Please don't give up, call the American Cancer Society, get some info from them, they're there 24/7 1.800.ACS.2345. They can even help you find some clinical trials as well. Hang in there, I'll keep you and your family in my prayers.

ya right ur so full of it u cant not have ur parents know ur 17 im sure theyd have to ur not an adult

Sorry to hear that, but think the best way to tell them is put your medical report in front of them.
