Skin cancer and leukemia?

My mom was diagnosed with leukemia almost a year ago and now found out that she also has squamous cell skin cancer. Did having leukemia put her at a greater risk for developing the skin cancer or is it unrelated? Am I at a greater risk for developing skin cancer? We are both very fair-skinned and have light colored hair.

skin cancer generally occur after UV exposure (from sun light), squmous cell carcinoma and leukemia are not generally related. developing one usually have no effect on the other ..

fair skin people who spend very long times sunbathing (without using sunscreen creams) or use UV tanning machines ...etc u will have a greater chance of developing skin cancer than dark-skinned people, however for any other reasons there is nothing which will make you develop any cancers.

people who have long family history of mylomas (skin cancers) have a chance that they might develop one in later life, however, this is only the case if the person has many moles in his/her body (more than 100)...etc which are exposed alot to UV light !! if you use sun sensibly by using appropriate sun screen creams, protective clothing ..etc there is no reason why you would develop one.

You are at more more of a risk than a darker colored person because you are fair skinned as am I. Skin cancer also runs in our family. I would not worry as long as you take the preventative measures you should be fine. I am sorry to hear about your mother. I believe that the two were unrelated and as long as you cover up form the sun you have nothing to worry about. Good luck and Good health to you both.

I've read, though it is controversial, that squamous cell skin cancer can be an indicator of an internal malignancy. This is all I really know though. I was just diagnosed last Friday w/ squamous cell skin cancer so I've been researching it. I will let you know if I find more info though. Good luck!

He was re-examined and told he may need radiation, had series body scans, to find it had totally disappeared. God is faithful to His Word to Perform it!!
