Someone asked about Legionnaires Disease yesterday.?

I am a journalist who covered the outbreak of Legionaires Diseas in Stafford Hospital (1984) during which 29people died.
It is not contageous, as such in that itcannot be spread from person to person. But it is easily caught, especially amongst the elderly, if allowed to persist in the environment in which it breeds.
usually this in air-con units which have not been disinfected properly.
Anyone out there whose relatives contracted it please contact me. Thanks.
PS: It is so called after a meeting of veteran Legionnaires at a hotel in America, where more than 35 died.

why do you want people to contact you if their relatives contracted this disease? My sister got Legionnaires Disease in 84 or 85 (I think) and she became very ill. She did live but has had diminished lung function ever since. It was explained to me as like having a very bad case of pneumonia that does not always respond to treatment and that they could treat her symptoms but not cure the disease so she would basically live or she would die. At the time she still had 2 minor children and we were all in a panic.

But on a funny side note: she actually got the disease from a dirty air conditioner vent while she worked as a waitress in a VFW club! ha! Legionaries disease from a VFW club! ha!

so whats the question??
