Is there any better method for treating horses leg Injuries?

When my horses scratch or have minor cuts on their legs, I use saline solution ans clean the wound well with that. After it has soaked in, I apply lots of sudacrem to the wound. Does anyone know of a better method and product that helps these occassional problems heal faster. Of course my horses are covered for tetnus.

honey applied directly to the wound is what our vet recommends. There has been research done on its antibacterial effects and it's proven to be benificial.
