Horrible leg injury. HELP ME!!!?

I'm only 26 years old. I was in a horrible auto accident Jan 2 of this year. My tibia and fibula and ankle completly shattered!!! Leaving me with a titanium plate 12 pins, and according to my ortho surgeon, I need one more surgery and an additional plate since my leg healed completely wrong! It's now mid October, I still limp, I can't run, I'm in constant pain 24-7. I've done physical therapy, but it now doesnt matter cause my leg healed wrong. Hell, I can't even do a full squat! I've blown up 57 pounds since then. I've cut down sooo much in eatting but there is only so much I can cut down before I am only drinking water to survive. Cardio is no option cause I can barley walk as it is, and weighs I can only do a certain amount before my leg pain become too much. I'm getting married mid next year and I'm terrified of becoming any fatter. I can't even look at myself anymore. I used to look pretty and be healthy. Please help me with your suggestions. I'm willing to try ANYTHING!

If your surgical wounds have healed, why not consider swimming...it's low impact, cardiovascular and generally soothing to injured areas.

Tib-fib fractures, especially of the middle third, are noctorious for non-union. This is because it receives a very poor blood supply. I've seen several that have taken up to 14 months to heal. Hang in there!

Why don't you try going to a gym and talking to a personal trainer? Or even your physical therapist, if you can ask them. They could probably give you some good exercises that you can do that won't put too much of a strain on your injured leg. There also might be ways that you can get cardio that will not influence it as much. Have you tried biking? I'm sure someone who knows about fitness could help you find a routine that can help keep you in shape and healthy without injuring you.

You said that you've still got one more surgery to correct the part that healed wrong, so you might find that after that surgery you feel much better and you are able to work out better, as well. Seriously, though. Talk to your doctor and find out his recommendations, and then try to talk to a physical therapist or personal trainer and see what they can help you with. Good luck! And congratulations on the wedding. :)
