What do i do to heal an upper leg injury?

I was sprinting during football practice and all of the sudden i heard a pop in the top of my right leg, i know it isn't broken or popped out of place, but it hurts pretty bad. What is it and how do i heal it?

While it may only be a tendon or ligament that has partially broke, I would still go get checked out by a doctor only because if it is something terrible, it is better to find out early and receive proper medical care.

Especially where it is located, you wouldn't want to have it hurt you the rest of your life or in old age if it could have been avoided with a simple visit.

I assume the doctor will tell you to stay off it and let it heal, but you never know if more is needed.

It could be a pulled muscle or a ripped tendon or ligament. The way to heal it, is to not move it at all. If you have to move it, move it as little as possible. Let your body heal itself, that is the only way.

obviously rest. Sitting can cause more pain so try to lay down as much as possible. Is there swelling? it could also be a hernia. I would suggest at least a visit to the doc. You will prob get some good pain killers out of the deal. You make also want to try some homeopathic methods to help with healing and soreness....If you are stiff/sore try pomegrante juice/ blueberries/black or green tea, these are great at getting the buildup of lactic acid/toxicins in your muscles out. Get shark cartilidge(its not cheap) and chondrotin. They all help with joints and muscles. Also keep ADVIL not tylenol in your system at all times (not too much) this will help with the swelling. (If you are in good health and do not have medical conditions that keep you from taking advil generic name ibuprofen) The generic works just as well and saves you a bundle. Ice is also a good idea for 1st 24 hrs. After that a 15min/15min of ice and then heat is good. You may have torn something and ignoring it could create problems that are far worse in the future if not addressed now.
