Jump rope knee/leg injury?!?

I've been jumping rope to help get in shape and I love it. I am having pain and swelling below both knees toward the inside of the leg. It appears to be about 1 1/2 to 2 inches from the tibial tuberosity going medially. The swelling is about 3" in diameter. Anyone know what this is? I'm backing off on the jumping and trying to ease into it, but I sure don't want to destory those knees. I may need them for a while. Anyone?
