Leg injury help please? |
While out in the garden yesterday, I was walking on an uneven surface when I felt my calf muscle 'snap'. Have rested since then but as soon as I try to walk I am in absolute agony. Any advice would be most welcome and should I put a bandage on and is it worth my while bothering the doctor with this? Thankyou in advance. Probably torn one of a number of muscles that originate on the back of the tibia. Get the GP to visit. It will heal, but may swell. Painkillers MAY assist - after hours! Oh yes totally bother the doctor with this. There is a little bone in your calf..actually 2 but the little tibula could be broken. Go to your doctor!! You'll need an x-ray. Don't apply pressure because you'll only worsen the problem. Apply ice if area is swollen, but don't leave it on for more than 15 minutes at a time, keep leg elevated. i doubt it was the calf muscle that 'snapped', it may have been your fibula that broke, thats the smaller bone in your lower leg. these arent too serious, and can usually heal within 4 weeks opposed to the normal 6-8 weeks. i would go to the hospital, and get and xray, i couldnt hurt anything, and dont ignore this, it could be more serious. most of the time you arent even put in a cast for a broken fibula, just a boot, or a splint and youd go on crutches for a few weeks but this could be something totally different, so id get it checked out. i hope you feel better =] You really need to see a health professional. If you are in considerable pain try taking anti-inflamatory pain killers like nurofen. They help with the swelling and the pain. Good luck There something wrong with my legs as well, they keep asking me to lend them money......I think they're Broke.... get yourself to the doctor and let him take a look. sounds like you may have ripped a muscle. the sooner its treated the sooner youl be back on your feet. best of luck to you. |
