Leg injury someone help?

i fell 2 days ago and i scrached up my knee. it did not swell until today and now it is all purple what is wrong/what should i do.

Congradulations! you have an infection.

Right now bacteria are devowering your flesh and replicating at incredible speed inside your skin and muscle. Your imune system is trying to combat them, but the bacteria are replicating faster than your imune system can kill them off. Your flesh is a GREAT food source for them, and your own skin is providing a nice, warm, moist protected enviroment for them to breed in. Your white blood cells are being depleated and disposed of near the site of the infection - which is what the swelling and the puss is about.

In a few hours your joint will become stiff and painful to use.

The bacteri will have reached a population of such HUGE numbers that tehy will start spreading through your leg if they have not already started to.

A few hours after that the bacteria will have created such a toxic enviroment (because of their presence and because of their waist products) that the flesh around your joint will begine to die.

Soon after that and the flesh in the rest of your leg will start to die. If you are lucky, your immune system will be able to catch up at this point, if you are not lucky, the bacteria will spread into your body cavity and start to much on your organs, and you will swell up like you were bloted - but like you have never been before - and your organs will shut down one by one untill you die.

If you want to keep your leg, to say nothing of your life, and not have to have it amputated, - seeking profesional medical care should be a priority for you right now. If you are lucky the doctors will be able to give you some serious antibiotics and steroids, drain the swelling and prevent any need for an amputation. But that is only if you get to the doctor in time. I woulden't wait for morning - I would go now.

But maybe you are comfortable with a peg, parrot and eye patch? maybe you like being a smorgasbord for bacteria?

It's up to you.

Go to Urgent Care. It's infected.

Get medical help immediately.

Go to the doctor soon before it gets more infected and spreads. If you wait, you could end up with problems as serious as blood poisoning or loss of the leg. If you go now, most likely there will be no problems (antibiotics tend to start working fast in my experience). The doctor will probably give you antibiotics or a prescription for them (tell the doc if you're allergic to any meds - they should ask you anyway). Follow the instructions for taking them and take ALL of them unless you have a bad reaction. If you have a bad reaction, contact the doctor for a different prescription. Bottom line: don't wait and you'll probably be fine. If you wait, you're risking your health and your life.
