Constant pain in one leg? |
My grandmother is having a constant pain in only one leg from about the ankle up to her hip/butt area. Not excruciating pain but still very painful and uncomfortable. It gets worse when she starts moving or walking etc. and is only sometimes somewhat relived with rest but never completely goes away. Stretching, pain relievers, heating pads etc. haven't really helped much. Also its a constant consistent pain throughout the leg that doesn't hurt more when u touch or push on the leg its just kinda there. Theres no explanation really. She hasn't done anything physical or anything that would cause an injury and the fact that its almost the whole leg makes injury seem unlikely to me. She also feels heaviness in the leg and sometimes like a tingling/crawling feeling that she finds hard to explain. Anyone have any idea what could be causing this or maybe something that might help relieve the pain? Shes 67 and in good health overall and no meds or anything like that if that helps. PAD common at her age. The arteries and veins are closing due to cholesterol, blood pressure, causing peripheral arterial disease. She need to get medical attention as this could lead onto heart attack or stroke. Good Luck. I do not want to scare you but I would get this checked and soon.......sometimes a blood clot or a CVA could cause this...with there really not being any trauma to the leg and a heaviness - tingling - crawling feeling....I just would not take any chances... It maybe caused from keeping her legs crossed for a long time. Ask her to sit upright on a chair, then have someone sit on the floor in front of her and lift her leg on the shoulder, then twist it gently but firmly in each direction for about 5 seconds at a time. |
