HELP! I lost A LOT of Muscle in My left leg from injury!!!?

I had injuired my left leg pretty bad. I got Bursitis in my Left knee from hitting it hard into something. Since there was fluid surrounding my knee I coulnd't bend it with out it being EXTREMELY PAINFUL. The hospital put a leg brace on me and gave me cruches. It took me a month and a half to finally be able to walk around with the leg brace off. However, since I had practically no use of my left for a month and a half I lost most of the muscle i had in it. 11 months later, even though I walk around on it all the time, I haven't gained back any muscle. It seems flabby. This is making me self conscienece and it's noticable that it has no muscle definition compared to my right leg. Are there any exercises I can do to get back the muscle I have lost without making my right leg any bigger?? Please help! I fear it will not ever match my right leg again. Please help!

My calf is just fine compared to the right one. The target area would be my quad and hamstring. Those two areas are where it's just flabby.

Do calf raises. Since you are looking to tone, I would do lighter or no weight, but more repetitions.

The link is an example of calf raises.

I don't know which muscle you want to strengthen, but try this, it helped me: http://img512.imageshack.us/my.php?image... . I also recommend you running hills, it strengthen the leg muscles a lot.

My son had a broken femur for 2 1/2 yrs. Due to complications he had 2 non-unions & six surgeries. His leg looked the same way. The best excercise for tightning your quads would be bike riding and walking. Swimming helped also. Try going to a gym & working on the resistance equipment. Don't worry, your leg will come back. My sons legs look the same now.
