I have herniated disc in lower spine, severe pain and numbness in left leg could a chiropractor help?

cannot consider surgery because of blood clotting disorder, pain killers offer little relief

Unfortunately, I (or anyone else here for that matter) can't say that "yes it will definitely help you," or "no it definitely won't." I've heard many stories from people who have been helped by chiropractic. Considering that chiropractic doesn't use drugs or surgery and is one of the safest treatments out there, I think you should give it a try. The thing is that there are so many types of chiropractic techniques (and chiropractors themselves!) that I think it would be your best bet to ask family and friends for recommendations, actually visit a few offices, and ultimately pick the doctor you are most comfortable with. No matter what you decide to do, I sincerely hope that things work out for you!

I have this also. I asked the surgeon I spoke to to about this if the chiropractor would help or if it would even be OK. He said that anything I can do to help, he recommends. Back surgery should be your last option anyway. Since you are feeling numbness though, you may have nerve damage which can be bad. It means the hernia is pushing too hard on the nerve. It may help to see a physical theripist as well as the chiropractor. Yours must be bad. I can keep mine at bay (for now) with just 3 advil.

I have two herniated disks, between L4-L5,and L5-S1 causing pressure to push on the sciatic nerve. I was going to the chiro at least once a week if not more with little or no relief, while I was going I had no idea of the herniation, he referred me to an orthopedic surgeon, where I had an MRI, now I am about to start steroid epidurals, which may not work either. I would talk to a orthopedist and see about the injections, the chiro may just irritate your back more than anything like it did me.

There are two treatments - first is acupuncture and second is surgery. If you are afraid of surgery or can't bear expences you should try acupuncture first with full belief.
As a precautionary measure you should preferably avoid long journeys, hard work and angled shocks on spines in lower back.
In diet use a little pure ghee or cocoanut every time.

I have no disc left at L.5, S.1.. have had only 3 episodes of distress in the past 50+years.. and have always had almost immediate relief by being attended to by a doctor of Chiropractic. I went from a hospital (3 months) to seeing a chiropractor and returned to full duty within 10 days. Can be a rather amazing transition.

My Chiro helped me a lot. I guess it's just according to the person. Don't let anyone tell you not to do it. I have 5 buldging disk and ruptured one. I could not walk for a while until my doctor sent me to a chiro. Best thing I ever did!!
