I need to know...? |
I don't know, I might be jumping to conclusions if i said that I think that I have, 'OCD' (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder). EDIT: I do hurt myself - not others Repetitive behaviors is one of the signs of OCD and you are unable to stop yourself from doing this. Restlessness, no only your legs, is another sign. There are medications which can help decrease the symptoms and may make you relax a little. I would guess that you have trouble concentrating for any length of time too. This doesn't help with either work or school. Since you have recognized that you have a problem, ask you mom to make an appointment for you first with you family doctor and ask that she stay in the waiting room so you can talk with him alone so she can discount the symptoms you are having. Tell him this is disrupting your life and that you would like help with it. That is the start to medication, maybe some therapy (maybe not), and you are on your way to a calmer life. Remember, sometimes the first medication prescribed does not work for you and may take another try at another medication before you believe your symptoms are under control. I think you might have it mildly, I don't think ir all comes under the OCD. I don't think it's serious because you're not hurting anybody, if you're not hurting anybody(and that includes yourself) you don't need any help. It might be a good idea to try to cut some of the habits out, but it isn't serious for you to see someone about. It's not that embarrassing. I've seen many things that are more weird than that! The symptoms you describe can be OCD. The usual way to decide if it is a disorder is to look at how disruptive the symptoms are to your daily life. If you stay up to touch the door so much that you are tired the next day or if the "threes" problem keeps you from getting things done, it is time to go to the doctor. what are you eating? |
