Could I have Attention Deficit Disorder or a learning disability?

I am thinking that I may have ADD or a learning disability of some sort. I'm now in university and seriously struggling with getting assignments done. I never seem to be able to maintain my concentration when reading/writing. I'm typically able to comprehend what I'm reading, I just can't stay focused on it.

I had similar problems in high school but I was always given insane extensions (partly because I had PTSD) and was able to do well on tests/exams. At the time I figured that I was just too busy/tired from my part-time job to get my assignments done on time. I had a teacher who told me that I would "excel at university" because she thought I was bored in high school.

Now, I'm not working, all I have to do is my school work, but I'm having the same problems.

I don't have hyperactivity and I can usually listen to and understand people when they're talking to me. My mind is just always wandering, especially when I'm alone and really trying to be focused.

I took some quizzes and scored on the high end of "moderate ADD". I'm going to go check out some of the services offered at school to see if I can get a proper diagnosis.

Attention Deficit Disorder is not the only learning disability that you might have, you could have trouble processing information quickly. You should go to a counselor and ask to be tested. That will help you find out if you do have a learning disability or if it's something else. IF you do have one they have to help you figure out a assignment plan that will allow you to get your work done and make it possible for you to finish school with the least amount of problems.

You may be sleep deprived... Get checked by a doctor...

If I were you, I would go for some professional counseling. Good luck..

some people have different symptoms of Add and learning disabilities. If you're really worried you should go to a special doctor who can test you for this. If you have either of these they could give you medication, this could help :)

I have that problem, although no proper diagnosis... i have actually tried welbutrin for depression, and it seemed to help with concentration, but if you have any anxiety, do not take this or it will intensify it so much!

Could be. There are tests on the internet where you can test yourself. Dont now the adresses though.

Most of us have some form of ADD. Some classes are so boring we have no interest in them and getting motivated to do assignments can be especially challenging.
You just have to suck it up and do it, that is what most of us had to do. Keep distractions to a minimum and allot certain times to study.
