Are repetitive recollections of your past "faux pas"es related to OCD?

If anyone here that has been diagnosed with OCD (or an anxiety disorder, for that matter) has experienced this, please speak up.

I have had problems with this for years: especially when I am alone, I tend to recall all my past (real or perceived) "faux pas"es, for lack of a better term, and they cause me extreme anxiety to the point where I say something out loud or else grab myself so hard I scratch myself (have drawn blood once or twice!)

They are repetitive - I can't get them out of my head and I can't stop thinking about them or "forgive" myself for them.

They aren't big things...just things I felt I did or handled wrong, or else a situation I was embarassed in. Like: I didn't meet up with someone at a reception like I said I would. Or, I said the "wrong thing" to someone that wasn't meant as an insult or slight, but kind of came out like one.

I have a nonverbal learning disorder, if that is relavant. Insight is greatly appreciated!

Nope, the nonverbal learning disorder is not Asperger's. NVLDs are related to Asperger's but aren't the same thing. A NVLD isn't as "severe". It's hard to find more than one or two good NVLD sources of info, I'll tell you that much!

Yes. As long as I can remember I have experienced that. I have anxiety & depression that are associated with my epilepsy. I used to be like you and upset with myself but , now when I remember things I use them to make sure I don't repeat them. When I make a mistake I try to fix the problem and apologize to the person if applicable. Later on I might remember that I did something and I stop and tell myself that I fixed it and that everything is okay. You have to accept yourself for who you are and try to improve yourself thru your mistakes not punish yourself. put me on your contact list if you want to talk more.

I think you do in fact have some form of OCD. But over thinking repetitively certain thoughts, that's an OCD. Now, that being said, OCD's can be worked on thru out your life. You may not even need any medications. As for your non-verbal learning disorder, what is it, Anspager's? That may or may not be anything to worry about. That question part should be with your primary doctor.
