Professionals and Parents of children with ADHD?

I am doing a social issues project for my sophomore English class and i have chosen ADHD in children as my topic. I've done a bit of research about the disorder, but i was wondering if anyone would be able to share some specific personal stories and descriptions of their child (or a child they know) and this disorder, such as and the effects on the child and family (when diagnosed, any learning disabilities or disorders...), relationships with peers, the child's behavior and performance in school, home, etc. I don't need names or any information that you are not comfortable giving, but I will be grateful for any information you do give. If you don't mind me contacting you again, please let me know. Thank you!

Quite a few children in my family have had ADHD. (My daughter, my nephews, now my daughter's son.) Kaleb, my grandson, is mildly ADHD. He doesn't require medication, but we have to watch his diet and we've had to help him a LOT with adjusting to school. He has a very hard time with impulse control and it's caused some problems for him in both kindergarden and now in the first grade. My daughter has worked with the teachers in both cases, however, and they use a daily behavior sheet to monitor his behavior. If he gets a certain number of "green" days in a row he gets a game night party at Nana's house. (Me) I usually try to invite several other children his age and we play video or board games and have pizza and root beer floats. He's doing pretty well, but it requires constant feedback from us to keep Kaleb on track. He doesn't like school very much, but fortunately he's a bright little guy, so he's learning okay anyway. If you have specific questions you'd like answered feel free to e-mail me a list and I'll e-mail the answers to you.
