A Question for psychiatrists, psychologists and brain specialists ONLY.? |
Before I ask, let me tell you that I guarantee I do not have a mental disorder or illness, learning disability or any of the kind. This question probably doesn't have anything to do with that. And please, I need a solution to the problem more than the cause. You are describing a cognitive distortion that has now become a self-fulfilling prophecy. You need to find examples of your ability to understand things accurately (and I'm sure there are many) and use them as a way to logically argue against the distorted belief you adopted years ago to explain a particularly bad day when in reality you were probably just stressed out and needed to find a reason to give yourself permission to take a break. Try using a healthier belief to explain a difficulty with concentration, like "I was just tired, overwhelmed, having a bad day" to replace the incorrect assumption you made that you have since adopted as true. It's called cognitive restructuring. I think you have ADD! But, first of all, i am no doctor. I often have this same anxiety. try relaxing and listen to some classical music before, while or during your study time. It will help u if u listen to the music, take long, deep breaths, and do what u gotta do. the music will help u remember what u are studying too. Yes we are victims of our own postulates. But what is mess up is that admitting that your old postulate was wrong makes you be wrong. And we don't want to be wrong. So we have a problem of postulate against counter postulate and this equals confusion (it is vs. it isn't). After this confusion where is your reality left? You already admitted that you were wrong. Reality is certainty but how can you have any certainty when you already doubted your self. |
