Such a condition that you describe is a mental disorder itself. It is called hypochondria. If it seriously bothers you talk to a psychologist. It can be treated.

(Mandy Yes there is such a thing as a psychological hypochondriac) Hypochondria can exist in any form, people can even get hypochondria of illness completly made up too.

hypochondria

It's called hypochondriasis which is also a mental disorder. You can be treated for this through therapy just as you would with other disorders.

I have a sister with the same thing. It can cause a lot of problems. It would be worth seeking treatment.

Good Luck!

Is there such a thing as a psychological hypocondriac? That would be about the closest thing I could think of.

paranoia

hypochondria.. wait..don't tell me you are getting that too..

Hypochondria?

nine out of ten people who have read about all the different personalty disorders and schizophrenia and bipolar disorders Will tell you - this is me! But guess what, its all bull! In that case we are all mad. Trust me, psychology is a load of rubbish.

It's hypochondriac. Being paranoid about all different types of illnesses, then linking them to whatever symptoms you think you have.

I woldn't know

It's called hypochondriasis, and it's the fuel behind the pharmaceutical industry. If they can "raise your awareness", they can raise their sales by making you believe problems that you didn't know you had.

You do suffer from it, and you will until you choose to be free of people telling you what your problem is.

This is common in psychology students. It also happens to medical students. They will read about various syndromes and suddenly begin to believe they have it. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Medical_stu... as an example, but I think it could have been a better one. It does not mean there is anything wrong with you, it happens to many "normal" people who begin to read and research various disorders. Usually it happens to students since they have to spend so much time thinking about it, they start seeing their own behaviors as a symptom of something larger. That said, it does not mean if you feel you have something serious you shouldn't consult someone about it. But just be reassured what you described it's not all that uncommon.
