Dreams while on medicine; do you know the answer?

So; Hi My name is cassie; I have a couple of disorders that I am currently learning to live with; The medications and therapy is helping a lot; I am kolnipin as well as Zoloft, I have Panic disorder as well as depression; I take the Zoloft when I awake and the Kolnipin when I go to sleep. I wake up remembering the craziest things; and believe that it is real for a couple of 5 minutes after awakings. I mean things that are just completly akward; for example: my boyfriend woke me up the other morning and I told him to get away from me I was so upset that he had fed my penguin french toast and that it got sick puked on the floor and his mother told me was no longer alowed to bring my penguin aroung their house any more. He kept reassureing me that I didn't have a penguin; Finally i realaized it all was just a dream; I woke up today SCREAMING DON'T LOCK ME IN HERE PLEASE NOIt was so loud I woke my self up. Is it normal to have insaine dreams while on this medication?thanks for the help

i know exactly what you mean. it has got to be the medication. i have had the exact same thing going on now for the last few months while i have been on welbutrin and paxil. i wake up in the morning and cant remember if the dream i had was actually real. like no even knowing if it was a dream because it was so real. i haven't had one dream that i can't remember now. i kind of find them fascinating but if your having bad nightmares i would tell your doctor about it and he'll maybe cut your dose or prescribe you a different medicine....hope all works out for ya mate.

Psychoactive medication will mess with your dreams, for sure. I think I had a couple of screamers in the years I was on it, but for the most part they were just extremely detailed and vivid. And I rather miss them.

If they're disturbing you, perhaps you could talk to your prescribing doctor about a possible change in your medication?

Prescription medications for depression and anxiety/panic have a lot of really weird and, often times, bad side effects. It has also been proven that they can make your condition worse.

You should look into taking natural supplements from the health food store - like St. John's Wort or some of the stronger, more concentrated supplements. The side effects are not nearly as severe and they are better for your body.
